Accident? What Should I Do?

ACCIDENT? What should I do? Here is a quick checklist.

1. Check for injuries: First and foremost, check yourself and any passengers in your car for injuries. If anyone is injured, call for emergency medical assistance immediately.

2. Move to a safe location: If possible, move your car to a safe location, such as the side of the road or a parking lot. Turn on your hazard lights to warn other drivers.

3. Call the police: Call the police and report the accident. They will come to the scene and create a report, which can be helpful for insurance purposes. GET A REPORT ask for a miscellaneous report if the officer/deputy/trooper is not inclined to do a crash report.

4. Exchange information: Exchange information with the other driver(s) involved in the accident, including names, phone numbers, insurance information, and license plate numbers.

5. Take pictures: Take pictures of the damage to both cars and any injuries sustained. This can be helpful for insurance purposes. Video is another excellent tool on your phone.

6. Contact your insurance company: Contact your insurance company and report the accident. They will guide you through the claims process. Do not agree to a recorded interview or statement prior to discussing your case with an Attorney. Never discuss injuries, limit cisuccion to PROPERTY DAMAGE only.

7. Seek medical attention: Even if you don't feel injured, it's a good idea to get checked out by a medical professional. Some injuries, such as whiplash, may not show up immediately.
