Tom Kirkbride, JD., MPA

  • Tom B. Kirkbride, the principal attorney at Kirkbride Law, P.C., holds a Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the Command College at Columbus State University, an institution renowned for its rigorous training for police chiefs across Georgia.

    Tom's distinguished career includes over 12 years of service as a disabled veteran of the United States Army, where he served in critical capacities including as a special-operations explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician and breacher, roles that ended following significant injuries incurred in the line of duty.

    Since 1990, Tom has been a Georgia P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer, serving in capacities such as a bomb technician, arson investigator, and SWAT team leader, accumulating over 6,000 hours of POST-certified training.

    Following the events of 9/11, Tom joined the ranks of the Federal Air Marshal Service, playing a crucial role in the fight against global terrorism and eventually rising to the position of Supervisory Federal Air Marshal. He retired in 2022 from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after a commendable 32 years of service to both the military and federal law enforcement.

    As an attorney, Tom is passionately dedicated to supporting public safety professionals, leveraging his extensive operational background to provide specialized legal services in areas like public safety employment law, Equal Employment Opportunity complaints, and civil rights issues in hiring and employment.

    Tom is also deeply committed to advocating for veterans with their VA claims, as well as supporting survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and officers facing P.O.S.T. certification and disciplinary issues.

    In the academic sphere, Tom is a respected member of the Columbus State University Alumni Association Board and has spent two decades as an Associate Professor at the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, shaping the next generation of law enforcement leaders.

    Outside of his professional and academic pursuits, Tom is actively involved in his community as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 210 in Peachtree City and a member of Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville. He also lends his expertise to the Public Safety Committee at Whitewater High School, advising on legal and safety education issues.
